Carl was a real gentleman and a very good friend.  I am sure he is with our Lord in heaven,

I periodically emailed him on his birthday, but regret that I never gave him a phone call.

He will now continue to be in my prayers.

Carl was a good friend for many years.  We had a good time catching up at our 50th.

Carl was very bright, kind and a lot of fun.  He was one of the better dancers doing the "routine" at the Friday night Notre Dame dances.  I am sure he will have all the angels lined up to dance!

Carl was my friend for 57 years. We had a lot of fun during our time at GPHS going to the War Memorial, Ross Mulholland’s Saturday Night Parties, Jazz Coffee Houses, and the summer sock hops at Notre Dame High School doing the routine. Carl was really good at that dance and the rest of us limped along, but the girls were great. After High School we lost touch for a while but kept up our friendship at the reunions.

In the  90’s, our friend, Tom Gordon (GORDO) passed away and Jimmy Culotta and I decided it was about time that the old gang should get together again. We started traveling every year to a new city; Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, San Antonio, Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Carl was one of the travelers and told me on our first trip, that he was so happy that I pushed him to join us. All of us liked having Carl on our trips. He was a lot of fun, had a good whit about him and  loved good food and drink.

Remember, don’t cry because its over, smile because it happened. I’m doing a lot of smiling but it hurts to lose a friend.

I have been sitting here in front of my computer for some time and I am having a hard time writing this. It is very sad to lose a friendship that goes back so long because it is a part of my life. It is very difficult to stop grieving and start celebrating his life.

I first met Carl at high school where we shared a lot of the same experiences. We both went on to the University of Michigan and joined the same fraternity. Carl was mature enough to share fraternity life with academic life. Me!!! After a year and a half I had to make the choice of one or the other so I bailed out of the fraternity. Carl and I still kept in touch with each other and when I came back to Michigan we got together usually for a few days at his home on Mullett Lake. His lovely wife Carol Ann would cook up a storm while we enjoyed the scenery and the beautiful sunsets. One year we drove up above Lake Superior in Canada and flew into a fishing camp. We fished our arms off for almost a week and Carl was in his own element. He loved the north woods.

Throughout my life with Carl I never heard him raise his voice or lose his temper. He was very soft spoken and when he said something it was worth listening to. We went to the class reunions together and while the rest of us showed our age, Carl remained young and in good shape. I will miss him and I’m sure he is resting in peace.

Hey Carl - God Speed!  A good friend from playing in the GPHS band and attending U. of M together.  A super nice guy and a generous person.  One time while attending a Dave Brubeck concert with Carl sitting next to me, I looked over and he was fingering in the air the notes Paul Desmond was playing on his sax.  Carl was a true fan.  Our journey continues.  The next years will be difficult for us all.  I am happy that I had the chance to know Carl and had a great conversation with him at the 50th.  Very sad now.
