Since 1960:

Worked in a factory till September of 1962. Joined the US Army for a two year Active Duty Tour.I was very lucky to go to Fort Knox for Basic Training, and Advanced Training. Came home on Leave in December of 1962, got married, and went by myself back to the Army life . My wife had a good job here , and we felt her staying here earning money was the best thing for us.Then off to the wonderful state of California. I was stationed about 40 miles out of Barstow, California in the beautiful Mohave Desert. I Really enjoyed the climate. It would get up to 120 degrees in the summer, but very low humidity, so you knew it was hot, but no sweating. For me I was a Company Clerk, so I was exempt from all the duties of K.P., Guard Duty, Roll Call. Field Duty. I worked in a air conditioned office. A great job.At night the stars seemed so close, you could just reach up and grab one. No lighting to obscure your vision. And the wonderful sounds of a Coyote in the not to far off distance. If I had my work caught up, I would spend a lot of time at the Base Swimming Pool, and if I was needed , the company would call me at pool side to resolve what ever the issue was. Another place that I use to spend some time, was good old Las Vegas, Nevada. If I were in uniform, the guards would always fix me up with a coupon for a free breakfast, what a meal of Steak, Eggs, Hashbrown Potatos,Toast, and Jelly, and Coffee. I got out in September of 1964, and returned to Michigan.I worked in another factory job for about a year. Then I got a job dealing in the world of Structural Steel Sales. That was my career, very enjoyable field, and a lot of really great folks I met along the way. I got divoriced in 1972, and have never remarried. I am now retired. My children are all healthy, happy, and successful in their choosen careers.
