Wilfred L "Bill" Gignac

1942-2026

Wilfred Louis “Bill” Gignac Jr., 83, of Marysville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

He was born October 9, 1942, in Detroit to the late Dorothy and Wilfred Gignac, Sr.

While growing up in Grosse Pointe, Bill was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In his teen years, he had several muscle cars and enjoyed cruising Woodward Ave. He graduated from Grosse Pointe High School with the Class of 1960.

Bill met the Love of his Life in Boston in February of 1967 and he and Neusa Maria Moretto Biondi were married on December 29, 1967 at Iroquois Avenue Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit.

Bill served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he earned a Master’s Degree in Restaurant and Hospitality Management through the Oxford University extension program at Michigan State University. Bill taught hospitality and restaurant management at the St. Clair Tech Center/RESA for 23 years and was a member and president of the Blue Water Chefs Association. After retiring, he and Neusa loved wintering in Florida with their close-knit group of friends.

Bill enjoyed woodworking and restoring antiques. He especially loved collecting 45s, vinyl record albums and jukeboxes; amassing nearly 5,000 records and earning the nickname “The Killer.” He was also an active member of American Legion J. Edward Mallorey Post #449 and Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Neusa; daughter, Bonnie Sue “Suze” Gignac (Michael Heimbach Jr.); two sons, Jeff (Lina) Gignac and André Pierre (Stephanie) Gignac; five grandchildren, Juliana (Jack) Chapman, Parker (Carter Bennett) Gignac, Mason, Brooklyn and Felix Gignac; brother, Thomas (Karen) Gignac; a niece, two nephews, and many cousins.

A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Reverend Mike Opfermann will officiate the service.

Inurnment will follow at the Riverlawn Cemetery Columbarium, Marysville, where Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

I remember Bill as a fine person who I knew at Christ Lutheran Church as well as in high school. He took me to our Grosse Point High senior prom. My sincere sympathy to his family.
