Remembering Bob Horn
Bob Horn died in October 2002. He had battled ALS for several years. He was a distinguished and popular professor of international relations at Cal State Northridge. He had several books published that examined Russian interaction with China and other western countries. While he dealt with ALS he wrote a book that has become important for other ALS patients. He also wrote sermons for his church congregation that were then read by his wife Judy. He always had such great inner strength. He and Judy raised their three children in the LA area. One of the amazing things about Bob was that he started coaching soccer in the 70’s when his children were little and he continued as they grew older. As years went by he became a very successful girl’s high school soccer coach. Some of his teams won city championships in LA.
As we grew up in Grosse Pointe, Bob loved playing tennis at the Park, shooting baskets in his driveway, and sitting in the bleachers rooting for the Tigers. He drove a little Nash Metropolitan that would barely fit 3 people. He had a calming effect on our rowdy group. He was a wonderful friend.

Bill, you were obviously as good friend to Bob as he was to you. I will remember him as having a ready smile and quiet, but funny sense of humor and being kind to everyone.

I also remember Bob as a wonderful friend.   I played tennis and shot baskets in his driveway with him.   I am sorry I did not keep up with him as Bill did, and appreciate "Billie" giving us good information about him.  Bob was a GOOD GUY.
