Marshall R. Noecker
Residing In: Sarasota, FL USA
Spouse/Partner: Carlee
Children: Dana Lee (1972)
Lindsey Lee (1975)
Yes! Attending Reunion
Since 1960:

I received my BA from Dartmouth College in 1964 and my MBA from Tuck (Dartmouth) in 1965.
Went to work for Arthur Andersen & Co. in New York City.
In 1966 I was in Holland and met Carlee and her friend, Elaine. Then quite by accident I ran into Carlee 24 hours later in Germany and found out she was living in New York. About three months later I tracked her down through Lord & Taylor where she was working. In June 1968, we were married in her home town, Whitefield, NH.
By late 1969 I was trying to buy a business, but things weren't progressing as planned so I started interviewing consulting firms. I went to Arthur D. Little, Inc in Cambridge, MA, where I stayed for seventeen years.
In 1986 one of my client companies offered me the job as their President & CEO. The company was in the television business. After a long period of negotiation, they agreed to let me stay in the Boston area and just come to the headquarters for the monthly Board meetings. I was very glad I did. During my seventeen years of running the company I bought or started sixteen TV stations (principally ABC and NBC affiliiates) from North Carolina to California. I had a great group of managers and enjoyed every moment. Along the way some of the people I very much enjoyed were Michael J. Fox, Betty White, Rue McClannahan, Dennis Franz, Kim Zimmer, Sherry Stringfield and Brandon Tartikoff.
In 2004 we sold the company which was about a year and a half before it was obvious that the TV broadcasting business was no longer a good business to be in due to the competition from cable and the internet.
Throughout the years investing in the stock market had always been my hobby. After we sold the TV company, it became my principal vocation.

School Story:

I liked Susie Schroeder's story immensely, but I can't come up with one.
I did meet the beautiful Princess Astrid of Norway in the summer of 1961, and was treated by her to a two hour discourse on the history and economics of Norway. Of course, I had no idea she was a princess or I would never have sat down opposite her and started a conversation. I only learned who she was after her driver picked her up and several people came up to me and said, "Do you know who you were talking to? That is our Princess!"

Second Residence/Phone:

Concord, MA

Do you plan to attend the reunion?

Yes

I just read the entry by Ron Schram you posted below. I went to St. James Lutheran Chuch and played basketball against Ron's team twice a year. I was then on the short side and Ron of course was quite tall with very long arms. I was always a guard and once Ron was assigned to guard me. I felt like that was totally unfair as he should at least be a forward with his height, and when I got the ball I could not do anything but pass it to someone else for virtually the whole game. Except once when I brought the ball down the court Ron was waiting for me to get to him which, given were he was standing, was a very reasonable thing to do. Perhaps out of frustation, before I got to where he was I took a long set shot from much farther away than was reasonable and surprisingly I made it. I was only able to get that one shot off for the whole game, so I only got 2 points as opposed to the more normal 8 or 10. Ron even at that age was a very tough defender.
It brought back memories.

My wife, Carlee, and I had the good fortune to see Ron and Carol once or twice a year through most of the last 30 years.  Ron was the truest of the true.  This week the flag on the Dartmouth Green was flown at half mast.  I only remember that being done for a deceased Dartmouth President.  His death was such a VERY GREAT loss to so many and to the Dartmouth community.

Mark, this is Chip Noecker. I saw it was your birthday and let Bill Lee know that as I know you were good friends. Bill is not connected to the class website so he asked me to contact you through the website and ask if you could give him a way to contact you.

Saw your note to Dick. Grant Kurtz sent a note a few years ago that he was in Bonita Springs when I was in Sarasota. My wife and I are in Bonita Springs now. It would be fun to see you when you are here and the Covid-19 mess is over.

A few years ago you sent me a message about a possible Florida reunion. I was in Sarasota then and you were in Bonita Springs. Now we are in Bonita Springs also. With the Covid-19 situation, I don't think a reunion is in the cards, but I wanted to let you know we are neighbors. The classmates I am in touch with on a regular basis are Ron Schram, Susie Schroeder (Jarvis) and Bill Lee. Hope you are well and in good shape.
