Dennis Pinkos     1942-2016

Dennis Pinkos, Passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at the age of 74 at his home in Bloomfield Hills. He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Arlene; his beloved mother, Mary Pinkos, of Grosse Pointe Woods; his daughter, Kristin, and her husband Jason Fettig of Bloomfield Hills; son Grant Pinkos and his wife Izabela of Novi; grandchildren Sebastian and Alexandra Fettig; and brothers Gerald (Carol) Pinkos of Clarkston and Clayton (Deborah) Pinkos of Tennessee and sister Lisa (Michael) Howle of Holly. 

He was born in Detroit and raised in Grosse Pointe Woods. He was the first in his family to receive a university degree, earning a B.A. from the University of Portland and an M.A. from the University of Detroit. He also studied at the Goethe Institute in Munich where he met the love of his life, Arlene. They married in Boise, Idaho on June 17, 1967 and made their home in Bloomfield Hills where he taught for several years before joining his father in the family heat treating business in 1970. He enjoyed travel, foreign languages, genealogy, the theatre, and most of all, spending time with his family. They spent their winters in Sarasota, Florida and enjoyed their summers in Michigan. A devout Catholic, they were members of St. Hugo of the Hills parish in Bloomfield Hills. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-8 p.m. with Scripture Service at 7 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road (Between Maple and Big Beaver), 248-362-2500. Funeral Mass Thursday 11 a.m. at St. Hugo of the Hills Stone Chapel, 2215 Opdyke Rd., Bloomfield Hills. Visitation at church begins at 10:30 a.m.
