(The email message below from Bob Bianco was received on November 5, 2020.  We did not have any information prior other than the year of Bill's death and that he served our country in the US Army.  Although sad, we thank Bob for sending this information and allowing us to celebrate the life of our classmate, Bill Toth, in his service to our country.)

I was in Vietnam when Bill was killed on a patrol in the central highlands.  They posted his death on the grave registration.  I noticed his name and he was from Grosse Pointe.  I talked to my CO because I was in the Navy on a PBR.  I could not bring him home at that time.  I am from the class of 61.  459 Pointers went over there.  11 of us did notcome back.

Bill was my boyfriend in 7th grade at Parcells. We would meet at the Woods Theater on Saturday and sit together, he with his arm around me. It was very exciting! We were both so shy that we hardly spoke. How we got together or why we broke up is lost in the mist of time.

Bill was killed in Vietnam. An early casualty. I no longer lived in Michigan, but my sister told me about it. He was an only child and his mother became a strong supporter of Barry Goldwater in 1964 because of Bill's death.

A few years ago, I saw his name on the traveling Vietnam Memorial wall. It was quite an emotional and sad feeling. All I could think was "what a waste!"

BILL A friend back to PARCELLS. Learned he died in NAM when I was in the Army later. Looked up information and found BILL listed as being from ARIZONA not MICHIGAN as he emlisted in ARIZONA. Last I had known he was going to UNIVERSITY of ARIZONA , then enlisted after one college year. Always wondered why he left school and enlisted? SAD of course-----AL LANG

Bill was someone I enjoyed talking with and who I wanted stay in contact.  I remember stopping in the summer to see him before returning to MSU.  His mother said that he was in the military and stationed in Vietnam.  Not sure of the year but probably 1961 or 1962 and this was the first time I heard of Vietnam.

I heard about  his passing from a classmate in GrossePointe. When the wall was completed in DC we visited and looked up his name. He is an American hero from the class of 1960. We have a mini-wall here in Punta Gorda, Fl and reminds me of Bill's service to country. Chuck Witzke

Bill's mother shoped at the Grosse Point Woods Market where I was employed. One day she came in the store all teary eyed and asked me if I knew her son Bill and proceded to tell me about his death in Viet Nam.  I remember this as if it happened yesterday. Bill was a super friendly guy.

I recently received an additional email from Bob Bianco concerning Bill Toth.  He shared: "Pat, your class may not know this but Bill was a Certified Combat Engineer with the 5th special forces, or as we know it, a Green Beret."
