BARBARA (ZASTROW) BOLOGNA

LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND FRIEND

Barbara Bologna cherished her family, supported her church and many other charitable organizations, loved to travel the world and especially loved to read.

Barbara was born on March 12, 1942 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to Alfred and Marie (Wollner) Zastrow. She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School. During her school years she met Dominic Bologna. After high school she studied art at the School of the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts followed by working as a flight attendant for TWA.

Dominic and Barbara were married on December 28, 1963, had 3 children, and spent almost 50 years of marriage together. Barbara continued her education at Oakland Community College to receive her degree in nursing. She then worked as a registered nurse at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit until she retired 15 years later.

Most important to Barbara was her family. She was the beloved wife of Dominic; the loving mother of Lisa Honka (Paul), Steven (Claudia) and Christopher (Stacey); the cherished Nana of Nicholas, Marissa, Michael, Madison, Peter, Heather and Bryn. She was the sister of Charles (Peggy) Zastow, the late Anne Demchak and the late Larry (Linda) Zastrow, and also the loving aunt of 6 nieces and 10 nephews.

Barbara supported and was most helpful at her church where she prepared and served food to parishioners (Veronicas), created vestments for the priests, assisted with seasonal church decorations and was a member of the Peace and Social Justice Committee. She was also active with the parental organizations at her children's elementary school.

The Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy (between Maple & Big Beaver) Thursday, December 5, from 1-8pm. A Rosary Service will be held at 7pm.
