Robert Charles Zuehlke

Robert Charles Zuehlke “Bob”, 83, of Easton, MD passed away on May 23, 2026, at Talbot Hospice in Easton.

Bob was born on June 11, 1942, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, to the late Milton A. Zuehlke and Marguerite A. Mundt. Bob graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in Grosse Pointe, MI, class of 1960. Following high school, Bob attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1965. Bob then earned his MBA at the University of Michigan in 1967 studying quantitative methods. During his time at GMI, he was an active member of Phi Tau Alpha and remained closely involved with his fraternity brothers throughout life.

Following his education, Bob went to work for Sun Oil Company (Sunoco) in Philadelphia, PA. The job then moved him and his family to Dallas, TX in 1968 as Bob became the director of data processing operations. He later worked his way up to being the President for Sunoco Liquid Gas Corporation and Vice President for Sun Gases gas reserves development.

Bob married Barbara E. Luss on July 24, 1965, in Grosse Point, MI. They were high school sweethearts and through life’s adventures welcomed two sons, Kurt and Eric. Barbara moved with Bob where his career took him and she remained supportive through all his career opportunities.

Bob and Barbara moved to Easton, MD from Dallas in January 1982 to escape the corporate life and enjoy the water. Bob loved being on the water and sailing. He learned to sail and race from his uncle, sailing on Lake St. Clair, The Detroit, and St. Clair rivers into Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Always being a sailor in MI led to his desire to have his boat at his own dock in Easton. He was passionate about the Eastern Shore and what it offered, especially the sailing. While living on the Eastern Shore, Bob worked for USA Promotion Fulfillment, was a partner and managing director of the St. Michael’s Harbour Inn and Marina, and Abell & Zuehlke Construction. He also served on the Talbot County Zoning Commission and was a long-time member of Christ Church Easton. Bob stayed busy through his retirement but also found great enjoyment of relaxing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Marguerite Zuehlke. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Luss Zuehlke; two sons, Kurt E. Zuehlke and Eric R. Zuehlke (Jocelyn); and grandchildren, Alex, Dylan, and Charlotte.
