Emily (Emmy) Rose (Mucciante) Harrison
January 28, 1942 ~ August 2, 2025
Emily (Emmy) Rose Harrison was born January 28, 1942 to parents Anthony and Ida Mucciante. Emily died peacefully on August 2, 2025, joining Jesus in heaven.
The legacy of Emmy as our Mom/Grandma/Wife/Sister/Sister-in-law/Daughter/Niece/Friend/Nurse is very powerful and simple, as a day did not go by that Emmy was not seeking to help another – whether it was a family member, friend, or stranger. She saw people, she saw their need, and she acted. She had a bowling ball sized heart. People learned what love is from her example. We can all learn from her and will treasure our memories and time together.
There was never a woman with a greater heart for Jesus, and a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. She lived the greatest commandment from the book of Luke:”You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
Her heart was full of love for her beautiful family, whom she prioritized above herself at all times. Blessed with 4 children, Emmy and Tom also loved spending time with their 10 grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandbam” – she grew to love this nickname.
Emmy was born in Detroit, to Anthony and Ida Mucciante. She joined the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago at the age of 16 and spent 6 years there, becoming a nun and a registered nurse. At the age of 22, she was being called to have a family and returned home. She began her nursing career in Pediatrics, and then worked at the General Motors Corporation in the employee health department, where she met the love of her life, Tom Harrison.
Tom and Emmy were married for 59 years and had 4 wonderful children. They enjoyed being spectators for all of the kids/grandkids sports, wintering in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and living on Lake Oakland for the last 28 years. Lake living really agreed with them, where they hosted amazing 4th of July gatherings, enjoyed gardening together, and took a lot of kids tubing around the lake. Emmy continued her extensive nursing career which spanned 50 over years. Her service minded legacy lives on in the pursuits of her incredible grandchildren.
While we are going to miss Emmy so very much, we are strengthened and comforted that she is with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, and we will see her again for eternity.
Emmy is survived by her husband Tom, daughters Heidi, Kim (John), and Betsy (Terry), son Tommy (Jenny) and grandchildren: Brian, Emily, Brad, Maddie, Derrick, Katie, Ashley, Bree, Quinn, and Avery. She was preceded in death by her parents (Anthony and Ida Mucciante), brother, Jerry Mucciante, and son-in-law, Steve Nelson.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, August 5th at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford from 5:00pm – 8:00pm, with a Rosary Service at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 10AM, with family receiving guests at 9:30AM until the time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Emily’s name. https://www.coatsfuneralhome.com/obituary/EmilyEmmy-Harrison?fbclid=IwY2xjawL952pleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFMYzJTWGhTUm95ZW52M21kAR5qc8ZW7qc8HJOuL4-8tfPJ
