Certainly was very sorry to hear of Bill Scott's passing away. Too early. Bill and I were very good friends beginning when we entered GPHS. There was a good group of guys and ladies we hung with including Mike MacDonald, Ron Harper, Bob Waldeck, Jay Kotcher, John Moran, Mike Moran, Dwight Leonard, and many more. A party was always in order. Bill Scott was very well liked by all with a sly sense of humor that could keep you laughing. A story. Bill and Phil Keim were on the south golf team together. During practice one day Phil hit a bad shot that hit Bill in the mouth taking out several front teeth. Bill has a partial plate put in but now and then at a keg party he would remove the plate and smile large. Very, very funny but sure it was painful when the golf accident happened. God bless Bill and his family during this difficult time. Friend, Bill Veit.

Sorry to take so long to reply to Bill Viets remarks on my episode in the high school field room with our late friend Bill Scott. As far as the story of my hitting him in the mouth with a ball hit from my 3 wood, the story is exactly right. Bill burst through the canvas as we were practicing indoors due to weather conditions, at the exact time I hit my shot. Unfortunately the ball found its target, his mouth. He looked like the old movies spitting pieces of teeth over the field room floor. The school let me take him to his dentist, about 8-10 miles away on Mack Ave. in the Woods. Not going to happen in todays world, legalities, 911, ambulance, ER etc.. However, it was an interesting drive, with Bill's lips and face swelling badly, his voice sounded more like a cross between Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. I started laughing and all he could say was "quit waughing at me you bucking soma bitch". As an add on to this story, I was always aware if Bill was at any of our reunions, due to the fact that my table had a set of dentures at my place setting. Which makes you very right, that he had a great sense of humor. There were four of our classmates on our 1960 regional championship team. The four were Bill Lee, myself, Bob Waldeck and Bill Scott with false teeth. Your article is very right, we will all miss his laughter and ingenuous spirit. See you on the next tee my good friend.
